"A piece of clothing" is the motto Issey Miyake has used as its emblem since the beginning. Today, during their presentation at Men's Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026, they unveiled "Dancing Texture," a manifesto on the transformative power of textiles and how, combined with various ceramic intervention techniques, a silent dialogue is created between craftsmanship and the fluidity of garments.
Inspired by the legacy of ceramic artist Shoji Kamoda, the team behind IM Men takes earth as the primary element of their collection, dividing it into blocks that explore different artisanal techniques. Starting with UROKOMON, garments are presented with opal-based textile prints and a cotton fabric seal that, once removed after washing, results in a pattern alternating between curved and straight lines.
In the GINT? block, the adhesion of metallic pigments creates the illusion of fluid ceramic that perfectly complements the matte sections of their shirts and coats. And in the KAIYU block, a tribute is paid to the earthly and botanical nature of craftsmanship with contrasting prints, styled with the announcement of the brand's new collaboration with Asics, "ISSEY MIYAKE FOOT."
As a brief conclusion to their innovative textile treatment techniques, IM Men fuses the past and future in the ENGRAVE block, featuring crochet patterns interwoven with 3D prints, as fluid as ceramic and as fixed as the earth.
The way the menswear proposed by IM Men changes with each element is exciting. With the artisanal nature of the earth, the collection feels rooted and unmovable like an oak. While playing with mint tones, earthy hues, and striking contrasts, it also proposes new elegant and traditional silhouettes that make you wear art.
