HAUTE COUTURE AUTUMN/WINTER 2025: WHAT TO EXPECT?

Demna, Glenn Martens, Maison Margiela, Schiaparelli, JW Anderson, Chanel

Monday, July 7th, marks the beginning of Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, featuring its Autumn/Winter season. What does this mean for fashion lovers? Returns, annual appearances, new beginnings, and anticipated debuts, in addition to the opening by one of Couture's favorite houses. Let's explore together what these four days full of extravagance have in store for us.

After recent changes in their creative teams, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino are "hibernating" this Couture season, giving creative space to Jonathan Anderson, Duran Lantink, and Alessandro Michele. Let's remember that the Cruise runway show, which marked Maria Grazia's departure from Dior's direction, was also her farewell in Couture.

On the other hand, Schiaparelli is more than ready to open with its magical, conceptual, and ultra-detailed creations. Iris Van Herpen presents her anticipated annual collection on Monday with the announcement of “New Beginnings,” the debut of the JW Anderson brand, which still represents an enigma taking shape with each of the teasers it has published on social media.

On Tuesday, July 8th, the creative team will give their final presentation as creative directors at Chanel, making way for Matthieu Blazy. And speaking of goodbyes, Demna and his transformative legacy at Balenciaga will reach a nostalgic and celebrated conclusion on Wednesday, July 9th.

As a grand finale, we have the highly anticipated debut of Glenn Martens at Maison Margiela. An artisanal representation of his work as a creative for brands like Diesel and Y/Project is expected. His innovative and daring vision of fashion creates high expectations, especially after John Galliano's departure from the fashion house.

Not to forget the schedule of designers like Rahul Mishra, Stéphane Rolland, Ashi Studio, Robert Wun, and Viktor & Rolf, this is the most anticipated fashion week of the year. Will it change the way we see fashion and endure over time? We'll be reporting on our favorite presentations at thewalkpaper.com, so… see you there!
