Stéphane Rolland’s show today at Paris Haute Couture Week was nothing short of a landmark event. Why? Because it was more than just a Spring/Summer 2025 runway—it was a spectacle with a purpose.

Last year, Rolland opened his runway to fashion students from around the globe. This year, his 2025 show transformed into a charity event aimed at raising funds for the Fondation des Hôpitaux. The money, collected through ticket sales for the show, will go toward supporting at-risk teenagers.

For some, the practice of "selling tickets" to a Haute Couture presentation may seem... unusual, to put it simply. However, for Rolland, helping others surpasses the prestige, snobbery, or exclusivity often associated with couture. For him, this is one of the most meaningful ways fashion can express its essence.

For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Stéphane Rolland drew inspiration from the legendary dancer and singer Joséphine Baker, a key figure in the fight for civil rights for Black people and a World War II spy against Nazi Germany. Her contributions to the French Resistance during this tragic period in history cannot be overlooked.

As the models walked the runway, with recordings of Baker’s voice resonating through the speakers, another layer of inspiration became evident: Rolland also found his muse in the work of artist Constantin Brâncu?i, a pioneer of modern art. His creations served as the foundation for silhouettes entirely dedicated to the artistry of movement—a tribute to Joséphine Baker’s extraordinary grace. “She was a great dancer, and the way I designed and cut my dresses is based on movement,” Stéphane explained (via WWD).

Elegance, the cornerstone of any Rolland design, merged with an overwhelming architectural strength, resulting in dramatic pieces created with walking in mind: living sculptures draped in rigid yet ethereal materials. These garments stood at the harmonious intersection of what fashion should be: art, concept, and purpose.
