On Wednesday, January 22nd, the fashion duo EGONlab, in collaboration with Zadig&Voltaire, unveiled their new collection, "S4LEM." This proposal immediately captured the attention of experts and spectators alike due to the powerful message underlying each garment, acquiring particular relevance in the current political context by drawing a parallel to the Salem witch trials.

Inspiration for a fashion collection can come from many places. Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix tell the story of the Salem witch trials through the lens of the accused minorities, highlighting the exclusion of vulnerable targets.

I found it fascinating how they materialized this concept using common textiles like denim and wool. By excluding specific sections of the base pattern, they created a kind of visual "exclusion" that nevertheless resists and endures. The brand also experimented with wax finishes to achieve wet effects on jeans and utilized the transformation of garments to transmute a scarf into pants.

In line with current trends, EGONlab opts for large bags and oversized silhouettes. They incorporate motifs related to witchcraft, such as the Ouroboros serpent, and use fringe on chokers and other accessories for a finishing touch.
