Paris Men’s Fashion Week continues on its steady, unwavering course. Today, on its third day, Sean Suen unveiled The Ancient Tea Horse Road, his Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection, a tribute to the alliances forged along trade routes and cultural exchanges.

As expected from Oriental designers, Suen’s latest collection carries a profound symbolic narrative. Inspired by the journeys of porters, caravans, and merchants who traversed the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, connecting southwest China, Tibetan regions, and neighboring Asian countries, the collection reflects a rich tapestry of history and culture.

The references to these travelers are unmistakable, blended seamlessly with nods to an American Wild West aesthetic. Voluminous coats and trousers, crafted from thick materials, pair harmoniously with more traditional tailoring and reimagined travel essentials such as capes and hats.

Furry boots, oversized hoods, expansive sleeves, and open footwear come together in a styling that redefines the archetypes of wanderers: elegant men eager to break free from norms, expressing their origins and destinations through daring volumes and textures.

In a statement shared on the brand's Instagram, Sean Suen reflects on the natural treasures once transported along this nearly two-foot-wide path: tea, silk, cordyceps, and safflower. These materials became integral to the daily lives of their buyers. Similarly, Suen's collection aims to transform his pieces into objects of trade, imbued with cultural value.

Through his designs, the Chinese designer continues to bridge Eastern and Western aesthetics, creating a cultural and spiritual link. His collection draws from the visual language of Han, Tibetan, Naxi, and Ba cultures, among others, forming a sartorial dialect for modern-day explorers of this historical route to communicate, no matter where they hail from.
