DEMNA REINVENTS LUXURY: THE STORE SHOW AND GUCCI'S NEW IDENTITY

The Savoy hotel witnessed the origins of Gucci, serving as a historical meeting point for personalities from radically different worlds. That same energy of cultural collision drives The Store Show, the presentation that reveals Demna's personal and definitive vision for the Italian house. The runway, conceived as a retail space anticipating the aesthetic future of its boutiques, came to life under an original score composed by loki, the brand's musical director. Leaving behind mere curation, a playful bossa nova wrapped in Brazilian percussion and a nocturnal tango of growing orchestral intensity set the rhythm for a show structured in two acts, proving that the label's sound is an artistic stance in itself.
Through this sensory immersion, the designer unfolds a manifesto inhabited by three key figures: the rebellious aristocrat, the eccentric, and the snob. In the womenswear proposal, this clash of attitudes translates into architectural tailoring where voluminous shearling coats and puff-shaped jackets coexist with pagoda-shouldered garments, surprisingly constructed without pads to guarantee lightness. The bourgeois legacy and equestrian heritage are reinterpreted through A-line skirts in authentic Scottish tartan, rugby polos, and strictly masculine shirts. Sensuality also claims its space as night falls, transitioning from the delicacy of delicate lingerie to eveningwear of immaculate fluidity, anchored to the body by a teardrop weight that ensures an unbeatable gravitational drape.
Mirroring the physical layout of a store, the menswear collection converses with this universe by contributing a purely Italian attitude. The most elevated dress codes are relaxed with cropped trousers and loafers worn without socks. In parallel, fitted jackets in stonewashed textiles generate a fascinating tension when combined with outerwear of inflated proportions and slouchy denim pieces in raw, authentic fabrications.
The entire universe of accessories underscores this absolute mastery of the archive and modernity. The unmistakable Horsebit hardware dominates the scene, whether oversized on the 3X cummerbund belt cinching New Romantic-inspired ensembles, or seamlessly integrated into polished uptown bags with hyper-organized interiors. The iconic bamboo handles evolve into functional sections of flexible leather, accompanying a footwear line that ranges from metal-heeled stilettos with a femme fatale vocation, to angular-toed driver shoes and monogram-embellished equestrian boots. By rearranging his own narrative, Demna delivers a Gucci conceived as a canvas of infinite possibilities—a place where heritage and transgression invite every person to become exactly whoever they choose to be.
