Certain locations hold a deep significance in a brand's narrative. The Plaza Hotel represents exactly that for Tommy Hilfiger. Beyond its standing as a Manhattan landmark, the address served as a personal home for the designer and his family for years. Transforming its historic Palm Court and Terrace Room into the runway for Spring 2027 turns a major fashion event into a meaningful personal homecoming.
Using this classic symbol of New York luxury as a creative playground, Hilfiger presented a collection focused on reinterpreting American prep. The designs integrate traditional uptown sophistication with the laid-back attitude of downtown street style.
Shifted proportions, bold colors, and '90s details
The modernization of signature pieces comes through adjusted proportions, unexpected fabrications, and dynamic color pairings. The brand's traditional red, white, and blue Palette shares the stage with vivid yellows and vibrant greens.
Heritage silhouettes return with updated treatments:
- Sportswear classics: Color-blocked rugby dresses and Oxford shirting featuring Ithaca stripes.
- Traditional tailoring: Blazers and Ivy jackets crafted in classic tartan plaids.
- Knitwear variations: Polos shifting between shrunken and oversized fits, featuring lifted collars and micro-embroidered crests.
- Reimagined bottoms: Classic chinos reworked into high-cut hot shorts in vibrant shades, alongside relaxed cuts borrowing subtle seam details from denim.
The iconic Tommy Flag appears faded across superfine suede and silk-cashmere blends. Footwear grounds the collection with heavy '90s influences, including rounded two-tone skate sneakers, boat shoes, penny loafers, and leather pool slides.
A front row driving global pop culture
Continuing the brand's tradition of bringing together the F.A.M.E.S. network (Fashion, Art, Music, Entertainment, and Sport), the guest list captured a broad cross-section of cultural figures.
Gigi Hadid opened the runway presentation, while Romeo Beckham closed the show with a relaxed final look. The front row included Kate Moss, Camila Cabello, JISOO, Girls' Generation members (Hyoeyeon Kim, Yuri Kwon, and Sooyoung Choi), Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arón Piper, and Carmelo Anthony.
Matt Jones and the Matt Jones Orchestra provided the live soundtrack, transitioning from classical arrangements into contemporary tracks. Pop artist Slayyyter delivered a surprise finale performance of her track "Dance," wearing a head-to-toe Tommy Hilfiger look complete with a red shirt, cropped shorts, a necktie, and high black boots.
With Spring 2027, Tommy Hilfiger continues to evolve Classic American Cool directly from the revolving doors of The Plaza.
