CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN AND JADEN SMITH: THE ARCHITECTURAL MUTATION OF FOOTWEAR FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2027
The Walk
Menswear footwear demands rigor and a constant evaluation of its classic forms. For the Spring/Summer 2027 season, Christian Louboutin and his Creative Director of Men's, Jaden Smith, explore that precise line between artistic expression and the sartorial silhouette. The result is a proposal that abandons predictable adornments to focus on crude structures, functional hardware, and striking metallic accents.
The intervention is evident in iconic models undergoing an architectural reconstruction. Silhouettes such as The Plato Loafer and The Corteo integrate brass brackets directly into the heel and welt, topped with a patent dégradé black-to-red finish and a redesigned foam footbed. Tradition is subverted through direct design gestures: The Upside Down relocates the penny loafer's signature coin to the heel. In parallel, the Joshua Tree Western boot incorporates a metal toe cap, balancing traditional boot-making heritage with a much sharper, contemporary attitude.
Volume and materiality dictate the rest of the delivery. The all-new Jedidiah sneaker features an exaggerated, ultra-rounded outsole , while The Stone Masons Feet pushes formal boundaries with a sculptural squared toe shape, made from a single piece of leather to achieve a piece of avant-garde wearable art. Visual irony, fundamental to the Maison's code, lands with the CL Claw Slide, a sculptural piece transformed into functional footwear that emulates an animal's paw using modern techniques.
Leather goods maintain this same line of utility and structural relief. The Cymatic backpack introduces a strict soundwave graphic motif that is replicated on beach totes and bumbags. Meanwhile, the Multipocket line exposes craftsmanship through raised pockets, which are individually cut, stitched, and shaped on wooden moulds before being assembled into pieces like backpacks, vests, and tactical harnesses. The entire collection, which redefines footwear through a purely sculptural lens, will arrive in stores on October 28th, 2026.
