There are names that begin to resonate with a particular force on screen, driven by a blend of talent, magnetism, and an undeniable clarity of purpose. Mar Bonnelly is one of them. With an energy that flows naturally between introspection and audacity, the actress prepares to captivate audiences in one of the most ambitious television projects of the season. But before stepping into the vortex of passions and conflicts that will define her new professional path, it is essential to pause at the origin and understand the vision of the woman inhabiting the character. Who is she when the spotlights have not yet been turned on?

Mar defines herself as a passionate, curious, and highly persevering woman—someone who chooses to fully immerse herself in everything she does, whether in acting, her personal projects, or her facet as an entrepreneur. Dominican, a dreamer, and hard-working, her main driving force is a constant search for growth, learning, and the courage to step out of her comfort zone.

That same steadfastness is what she now translates into Tierra de amor y coraje, television's new major gamble that promises to revive the power of classic melodramas through a contemporary lens. The project immerses itself in a universe where passion, ambition, family conflicts, and fierce power struggles dictate the rules of the game. This is not a linear narrative; the plot relies on complex, modern characters, weaving together romance, action, betrayitions, and the darkest secrets within a visually spectacular environment. In this setting, Mar Bonnelly takes on the challenge of bringing Adela to life, a character moving at the epicenter of a town where appearances are deceiving and every decision carries a heavy price.

In our June story, presented in collaboration with the avant-garde technology and aesthetic sophistication of Dyson, the actress shares the details of her experience in this production, the mysticism of the chosen backdrops, and the process behind building a story that promises to hook viewers from the very first moment.

Seeing the powerhouse cast that "Güero" Castro assembled for this project, what is the energy like behind the scenes when the lights go down and everyone stops being cowboys and villains?

Honestly, there is a wonderful sense of camaraderie. The cast has an impressive track record, and for me, it has been a great opportunity to learn simply by watching so many talented actors. Despite the intensity of the scenes and the level of commitment each actor has to their character, behind the scenes there is a lot of respect, a sense of humor, and a very warm atmosphere that allows us all to enjoy the process and give our best.

Was there anything in particular about the wardrobe or the set design that helped you connect immediately with Adela the moment you put it on?

Definitely the setting. Having the opportunity to shoot in Arizona was key to connecting with Adela. The landscapes and the atmosphere of the place instantly transport you to the universe of the story, making it much easier to step into character. The wardrobe completes that transformation, but I think being in those settings was what helped me most to understand Adela and her world.

If you could give Adela a piece of advice from the outside to survive all the drama coming her way in the town of Coroado, what would it be?

I would tell her to stop trying to settle every pending score and look inward a little. Adela is highly focused on what others did to her, but she rarely pauses to own her responsibility. She also needs to learn to value herself more and heal certain wounds, because many of her decisions stem from a lack of self-love. If she managed to do that, she would probably avoid a lot of trouble... though we would also be left with much less of a telenovela.

This production is based on Irmãos Coragem, a classic 1970s Brazilian telenovela that broke new ground. Did the cast discuss the weight of reviving a story with so much history behind it, or did you prefer to approach it completely from scratch to avoid the pressure?

Of course, there is an immense respect for the original material and the legacy it left behind. But we also understood that this version has its own identity. Rather than feeling pressure, we saw it as an inspiration. The goal was always to honor the essence of the story while building something fresh for today's audiences.

Were you curious enough to research what happened to your counterpart in the original 1970 version, or did you prefer the surprise and let yourself be guided solely by the scripts of this new version?

I was curious, and I wanted to know a bit about the original universe because I find it important to understand where the story comes from and its legacy. However, from very early on, I made the decision to build Adela from scratch. Although this new version retains the essence that made the original story so special, it also has many differences, both in the characters and in the way it is told. That is why I preferred to focus on the scripts, the production direction, and finding my own interpretation of Adela, rather than constantly comparing her to previous versions.

Why do you think audiences are going to enjoy Tierra de amor y coraje?

Because it has all the ingredients that make a great telenovela unforgettable: intense characters, impossible loves, secrets, rivalries, ambition, and dynamic emotions. Plus, the story moves at a very dynamic pace that keeps viewers wanting to know what happens next.

And something I think the audience will truly enjoy is the visual world of the show. We have spectacular settings and the opportunity to film in incredible locations that give a very special dimension to the story. All of this helps the viewer fully immerse themselves in the universe of Tierra de amor y coraje. I am certain they will be hooked from the very first episode.
