AMINÉ X NEW BALANCE ABZORB 2000 “BIBLIOTECA”: A TRIBUTE TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Some collaborations feel like instant hits, while others strike a deeper chord. The new partnership between Aminé and New Balance belongs to the latter. Their latest release, the ABZORB 2000 “Biblioteca”, is more than just a sneaker—it’s a love letter to libraries and to the spark of curiosity that begins when we open our first books.

From Boston to Portland, the story behind the pair carries a nostalgic and deeply personal tone. Aminé, the Portland-born rapper and songwriter known for his vibrant, experimental style, wanted to pay tribute to his neighborhood library—the place where, as he says, he spent hours as a kid discovering new worlds. “It was such an important part of who I am that I felt the need to honor it,” he explains. And he did so in bold green, inspired by the official logo of his home county, wrapping the entire silhouette.

The ABZORB 2000 merges the spirit of early 2000s running shoes with a contemporary aesthetic. Progressive, technical, and comfortable, it features ABZORB cushioning combined with ABZORB SBS pods, ensuring a smooth, stable stride. Sculpted midsoles, a toggle lace system, and a segmented outsole with Stability Web shank complete the build, offering structure and flexibility in equal measure.

Visually, Aminé opted for a clean yet characterful design: bright green mesh, tonal synthetic overlays with a glossy finish, embroidered heel logos, and a co-branded tongue tag—all housed in a special-edition box that underscores the sneaker’s story.

The result is a pair that seems to say: knowledge never goes out of style.
