The Spring/Summer 2026 collection by Neithan Herbert, “Raíz Sin Tierra”, debuted in Colonia Roma as a tribute to memory, heritage, and the nomadic identity of Latin America. More than a fashion show, the event became a manifesto on how cultural roots, craftsmanship, and contemporary luxury can coexist in pieces that transcend borders.

A runway that begins at home

The evening opened with a profoundly symbolic gesture: Etelvina Pillajo Campo, Neithan Herbert’s mother, walked the runway first inside a 19th-century house on Orizaba 28. Her presence was an intimate homage to tradition, family, and the designer’s own nomadic roots. Supported by Freixenet, the event was transformed into a ritual where fashion and heritage intertwined.

The origins of the brand

Founded in 2020 by Anga Ruiz and Neithan Ruiz, the label was born from a childhood steeped in culture, music, and Indigenous craftsmanship. Growing up with the stories of a shaman grandfather and the journeys of a mother dedicated to promoting artisans shaped a vision where ancestral techniques merge with contemporary silhouettes. The brand reimagines femininity and romanticism through nostalgia, deconstruction, and a deep respect for the handmade.

The collection: roots in motion

“Raíz Sin Tierra” explores identity as a journey—one that refuses to remain static. Herbert collaborated with artisans in San Miguel de Allende, working with cashmere, cactus leather, cotton, brass, and endemic dyes.

Smocking, pleating, weaving, and embroidery infused each garment with a sense of memory while shaping silhouettes that balance romance, structure, and movement.

As Herbert himself explained:

“My roots are not still; they travel with me and transform in every piece. They are memory turned into luxury, the past turned into movement.”

Casting and beauty as a statement

The show featured a powerful cast including Juana Burga, muse and activist of Futurismos Indígenas; Fernanda Álvarez; Magdaleno Delgado; and actress Adriana Paz, multi-award winner at Cannes and the Ariel Awards. Each model became part of the narrative of community and remembrance.

The beauty direction, curated by Dorian Ulises López alongside Herbert, emphasized individuality. Erich Clemens, in collaboration with The Dry Bar México and Revlon Professional, crafted hairstyles evoking roots in motion, while Ana G de V, supported by Charlotte Tilbury, designed makeup that balanced drama with subtlety, enhancing the uniqueness of every face.

A front row of stars

The front row gathered figures such as Yalitza Aparicio, Eréndira Ibarra, Celina del Villar, Mariana Arriaga, Sofía Espinosa, and Aline Bortoloti, all celebrating the fusion of artisanal luxury and contemporary design.

“Raíz Sin Tierra” is ultimately a tribute to the Indigenous, the local, and the forgotten—a reminder that fashion is more than aesthetics; it is a vehicle for memory, resilience, and community.
