Bárbara de Regil is, without a doubt, a Mexican icon of strength and excellence—proof that when you chase what you love, you embrace life and spread that joy, whether it’s through a live video, an Instagram post, or a hit Netflix series.

In this interview, we wanted to delve deeper into the human side of Bárbara—the side that made us enjoy the creation of our editorial even more—with the goal of presenting, once again, the face that, alongside Charlotte Tilbury, shines through every screen that projects her.

DANI MJ: What tools do you feel studying photography has given you in your current career? How do they show up in your work today as an actress, influencer, or entrepreneur?

BÁRBARA DE REGIL: None of the courses or studies I’ve completed have directly shaped my work as an actress; acting requires truth and a lot of heart. A teacher once told me that the best actors are the ones who are the most wounded. I don’t know if that’s true, but maybe all the scars from my past have served a purpose.

DMJ: At what moment did you realize your voice as a public figure had a real impact beyond the screen?

BDR: I never imagined having an impact on so many people; I like to believe it’s God’s doing, because it all happened naturally. From the moment I opened my Instagram account, I began sharing advice based on my own experiences or my family’s. I always spoke from the heart, never expecting anything in return—only wanting the best for another woman.

Because I am a woman, I come from a woman, and I have a daughter, a sister, and a grandmother.

DMJ: Rosario Tijeras is, without a doubt, one of your most iconic projects and is about to reach nine years on screen. What has it been like for you to grow alongside such an intense and beloved character?

BDR: It’s been intense, but I’m just as intense as she is, so it’s never been hard for me to bring her life to the screen—I’ve given her mine.

Rosario is fun, good-hearted, and hopelessly romantic. I love portraying her, and she’s gone through an emotional journey filled with maturity, which makes her a complex character. What I admire most about her is that, despite everything she’s been through, she remains the same: sensitive and strong.

DMJ: If you compare the Bárbara from 2016 to the one today, what do you now bring to Rosario that you didn’t before? What has changed in you that shows up in the character?

BDR: Something funny is that Rosario had a daughter in the third season, and now, in this one, her daughter is a teenager. I knew exactly how to navigate those changes and those moments that can be so challenging when dealing with adolescents.

DMJ: You’re an actress, influencer, entrepreneur, mother, and a proud representative of Mexican culture. What’s your best advice for staying grounded in so many roles without losing your essence?

BDR: The most important thing is knowing who you are, even when no one’s watching. I’m an actress, influencer, entrepreneur, and mother… but above all, I’m a woman who has never stopped working on herself. I stay grounded because I know my worth, I embrace myself in my most human moments, and I surround myself with people who remind me of my essence when I forget it.

My best advice is this: connect with yourself every day, care for yourself as you care for others, and never betray who you are just to fit in. Being many things doesn’t mean losing yourself—it means expanding.

DMJ: You have a very active presence on social media, but also a solid career in television. How do you balance the public with the personal? Is there something you always make sure to protect?

BDR: I love sharing and connecting with people—it’s something I truly enjoy. But I’ve also learned there are things you must protect. 

The most valuable things in my life—my family, my peace, my real moments—I guard fiercely.

On social media, I’m myself, unfiltered, but there’s also a side of me that doesn’t need likes, it needs presence. I find that balance by listening to myself, setting boundaries, and remembering that the most important things aren’t always visible—they’re felt.
