Fashion never rests (and neither do we—send help). Today, on the opening day of Haute Couture Week in Paris, Maria Grazia Chiuri unveiled Christian Dior's Spring/Summer 2025 collection at the Musée Rodin.

For this season, the creative director revisited 1958, the year Yves Saint Laurent debuted “Trapèze,” his first collection for Dior. Rooted in revisiting trends of the past and evoking childhood through intricate silhouettes, Trapèze served as Chiuri's inspiration for creating pieces that, in true Barbie fashion, empower women to be whatever they want to be.

Childhood emerges as the central theme of Dior's Spring/Summer 2025 narrative: girlish dresses reimagined through the lenses of royalty and punk aesthetics, merging styles Chiuri rarely delves into.

Crinolines, organza, ribbons, ruffles, lace, paniers, and fringes whisked attendees back to the ethereal dreamscapes of the 19th century. These designs paid homage to spring with feverish, Shakespearean whimsy and a touch of transparency.

This collection thrives on contrasts and transformations, juxtaposing proportions to deliver pieces that are equally romantic and rebellious. With Christian Dior’s signature haute couture craftsmanship, Chiuri skillfully fused past and present interpretations of womanhood.

True to her style, Maria Grazia infused the runway with artistry. For this show, Dior collaborated with Mumbai-based artist Rithika Merchant, creating nine paintings that chart the evolution of femininity while honoring American surrealist painter Dorothea Tanning.
