The wait to see the future of Homme Plissé Issey Miyake came to an end at Paris Fashion Week 2025. This Thursday, we witnessed the brand's return to its roots with a reinvention of its first runway show presented in 1977. Under the coordination of the designer group MDS, composed of Sen Kawahara, Yuki Itakura, and Nobutaka Kobayashi, "Fly with IM Men" was presented, a tribute to Issey Miyake's initial philosophy: "A piece of cloth".

The runway consisted of a white space with strategically placed robots moving black squares. The monochromatic looks presented focused on the use of draping, plant-based textiles, and layering in coats, jackets, and capes, evoking Miyake's minimalist and relaxed nature, while giving the garments a multidimensional and dynamic appearance.

Focusing our gaze at the end of the runway, innovation was not long in coming. The models, following the movements of the robots, unfolded the clothes they were wearing to form a cloth square with which they flew, hoisting the garments like parachutes.

In the past, the brand has been characterized by how a square of fabric is capable of dressing the body in different silhouettes with the use of a zipper or a button. Today's presentation is a homage to Issey Miyake and is a new form of innovation typical of his mind.
